With a shilling, William buys some sweets and heads to the pictures, where the five films fascinate him. On his way home, he accidentally knocks his father into the bushes when emulating a crook seen in one of the films. When he puts on a husky voice, pretending to be a country lover seen in another of the films, the girl next door thinks William has a problem with his lungs. Then, mishearing Ethel, he goes and tells the man who is to propose to Ethel’s best friend that Ethel wishes to meet him and declare her love. Embarrassment on both sides ensues. Finally, copying some painters seen in a comedy, William is found scraping paint off his bedroom door. Needless to say, William’s parents are mystified, and ever so slightly worried, about their son’s erratic behaviour.
